Wool on the Exe
Wool on the Exe Yarn Club
What if you could have a little bit of Devon to inspire your creativity four times a year?
Well, now you can with the Wool on the Exe Yarn Club! A quarterly yarn club created for fibre lovers who love Devon, British yarn, and the beauty it represents.
We are partnering with some of the best independent hand-dyers from around the UK to bring you exclusive colourways dyed to reflect the beauty of our spectacular Devon landscape and historic treasures. Available to club members for a limited time, they will not be repeated or sold in-store or online.
We're very excited to announce our Winter 2018 offering!
This time we stayed close to home and decided to dye your yarn ourselves! Debbie has delighted many customers with her hand-dyed creations over the last year and was inspired by the artwork of Terri Bate, fibre-goddess extraordinaire!
Some of you may know Terri from her many years of dedication to the Devon Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, or perhaps from the many workshops she leads at the Guild and occasionally at Wool on the Exe. Or perhaps you know her from her fabled jaunt from England to Australia on her bicycle!
Either way, her exceptional painting, 'Willows in Winter', with it's deep purples, fiery orange and shades of blue, have come together in a yarn that will make a striking accessory. The yarn is 4 ply, 100 grams/400 metres, and is a luxury blend of 50% superwash merino and 50% silk which will ensure a beautiful drape.
Along with your gorgeous yarn, you'll have a pattern choice from 3 imaginative designers. The first is for knitters - Nelia by Ambah O'Brien. Her pattern is inspired by the delicate yellow blossoms of the Golden Wattle. Nelia has elegantly tapered ends and is worked sideways with decreases forming a central spine. The pattern has directions for 2 sizes which would allow you to make the larger version if you opt for a second skein.
The second choice is for crocheters! It's Spun Gold, by Kat Goldin. Kat says 'When you have a beautiful yarn you need a simple pattern to show it off. Worked end to end, Spun Gold will use every last scrap of that special hank of yarn no matter the weight.'
Lastly, we offer you Noel by Paulina Popiolek. Noël is a reversible scarf in a shape of asymmetric triangle. Knitted in a garter stitch and eyelet pattern it uses only one skein of yarn and is perfect for variegated yarns, though not limited to them. It is fun and modern and can be worn with any outfit!
Please indicate your pattern choice in the notes box at check-out.
Lastly, as an added bonus, we will include a hand-made coordinating stitch marker with each order.
If you subscribe to the club for a year, we are offering a £10 discount and a custom Wool on the Exe project bag as a bonus gift! The club prices are:
- Purchase individually: £24.99 (10% off for members - use member code at check out)
- Annual-4 times per year: £89.99 for non-members (10% off for members- use member code at check out). If you require shipping, we will send you a separate invoice with the shipping fee calculated for your address.
