Temari Balls

Temari balls are a Japanese craft that originated in China and was introduced to Japan around the 7th century A.D. "Temari" means "hand ball" in Japanese and have been made by women for their children for centuries. The intricate patterns were traditionally made from remnants of old silk kimonos but these locally hand-crafted modern Temari are made with cotton and metallic threads.

Temari are highly valued and cherished gifts, symbolising deep friendship and loyalty.

The large balls are approximately 4 inches in diameter and the small ones are approximately 3 inches.
